The admissions process students can go on to the Admissions website, and that's where they'll apply for admissions. From then once they submit their admissions application, they can submit their scholarship application.
And then that one application goes towards all incoming freshmen scholarships. So those merit-based scholarships as well as major-based and they don't have to go to many different applications and submit those. It's all within one.
When looking to pay for college, the most important thing is to fill out the FAFSA. So on our Financial Aid website, we have a great resource talking you through exactly how to fill that out. And we even have Financial Aid Counselors that will help you through that process as well. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid is completely free and allows you to see if you're eligible for grants or other federal aid through the university.
And then the Border State Waiver, so even if you're not from Georgia, but you're from Alabama, Florida, North or South Carolina or Tennessee, you could be eligible for in-state tuition.
At Georgia Southern University, over 80% of students receive some sort of financial aid from us. So we are trying our best to really support our students and give them opportunities to pay for college.
The biggest advice I would give for financial aid is the sooner you apply, the better the more chances you have at getting more financial aid, and then just kind of educating yourself of all the resources that are available. You know, there's grants, there's loans, but there are scholarships that are available to you. It takes a little bit of work, but the more work you put in, the more you will get out of it.
