To me, the most important value that I see is absolutely family. I wanted to come to Georgia Southern University because it's practically home. I'm from Claxton, Georgia, which is 30 minutes away. So it's always been a second home. But once I was here, I had a ton of university faculty and staff who continue to remember me. So that absolutely solidified the fact that it is a family here and I've continued to have that experience throughout my undergraduate career with professors, faculty, and staff.
So one way in which we support emotional growth is through our University Counseling Center. That counseling center is a place where students can go to receive services and participate in programs that are honestly designed to help them with their day by day challenges. And it also encourages their personal growth and development because education while we are here to get a degree, Georgia Southern wants to make sure that our students are prepared to handle any challenges they may face, not just an academic challenge. It's so important for Georgia Southern to be able to share with you all why we think inclusive excellence is important. While we think that all students all faculty, all staff members that make up our beautiful community not only feel supported here, but they feel celebrated. And in order for us to do that, we've got to have some very detailed programming and some initiatives that everyone can get involved in so we can learn how to appreciate each other and through that appreciation comes us being able to celebrate and being successful when a community together.
